Project Summary
Emily's Fellowship year will consist of two major projects with the same underlying theme: to open avenues of education for groups of underprivileged youth from the Bay Area to become active and involved in the green economic movement. Emily spent the first half of the year coordinating the first ever youth program at the San Francisco Green Festival in November. The weekend consisted of 3 days of programming with a variety of workshops, panel discussions, music, art and activities related to how youth in the Bay Area can get involved with the environmental movement, and get internships and jobs at green businesses and non-profits. This spring, Emily is working on building a coalition of youth environmental, social justice and arts organizations in the Bay Area by encouraging open resource sharing, professional development and networking opportunities for program providers, and an online resource guide of programs and opportunities for youth.
